Praise For Llama Llama

If you haven't enjoyed the Llama Llama books by Anna Dewdney with you children, you should! :)

I've already been known to recommend these books.. but I'm dedicating this post to telling you WHY I so highly recommend them.

The Llama Llama books all teach great lessons and not just lessons for children. As a parent, as a teacher, as a child... as anyone really you could benefit from the things taught in these books.

In 'Llama Llama Red Pajama' Anna tells us a story about a Llama who can't seem to get to sleep. He struggles as his Mama has to leave the room and can't always quickly come to answer his calls for her. "Baby Llama... what a tizzy! Sometimes Mama's very busy. Please stop all this Llama drama and be patient with your Mama" The soothing words of this book and the encouragement from Mama Llama when she does make it upstairs is sweet and comforting for little ones struggling with the same problem.

The same applies to her book "Llama Llama Misses Mama" in which little Llama experiences his first scary day of school. As a preschool teacher.. this one really get to me! The story is so point on to how my daily routine plays out and I love the message from Llama's teacher when he hits his limit and starts to cry... "Don't be sad new little Llama! It's okay to miss your Mama... but don't forget when day is through she will come right back to you! Llama llama, please don't fuss! Have some fun and play with us."

The stories are easy to relate to.. for both parent and child... They speak of moments all parents (& teachers face!) An impatient baby in the grocery store (Llama Llama Mad at Mama) and at Christmas time (Llama Llama Holiday Drama) and a little Llama who "DOES NOT like to share...") Llama Llama Time to Share)

Anna's books tell these stories in a way that children can understand and I've seen her books aid in helping kids who are coping with these problems faced in growing up. I'm a proud owner of all of these books & I highly recommend you check them out for yourself! :) I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
